I am always captivated when I see an egret standing majestically in one of our beautiful local marshes. This large, coastal bird is a common Lowcountry inhabitant. But, the site of one always catches my attention. Egrets hunt for food by slowly wading or by standing completely immobile, concentrating, on their intended prey before a rapid bill thrust. Fascinating!
